Awarded Prize for Learning Environment
Elos School Visser ’t Hooft Lyceum wins Prize for Learning Environment and gets the European Language Label
This Dutch secondary school received the European Language Label with its digital learning environment Vreemdetaal.nl The site was an initiative of teacher Marleen Spierings, and is unique as it was created by teachers and students from across Europe.
The site allows teachers to communicate ideas with each other, and students to work independently and cross borders while sharpening their language skills. Online role playing and pod casting talk shows are some of the activities made possible by the site. Those interested in visiting the site can use the guest login or set-up an account of their own.
The European Elos Network connects secondary schools and education advisory organisations in order to promote European citizenship among secondary school pupils.
The network supported by national institutions, as well as by the European Commission within the framework of the Socrates programme, Action Comenius 3.
