eBook for handicapped children presented to Mayor Koopmanschap of Diemen
Greet Meesen from the Netherlands will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of her collaborative web-based project for handicapped or hospitalized children. Mixed Talent proposes themes, topics, and activities through eLearning, because the internet is easily accessible for those who depend on their home environment for collaborative learning. The central theme of this celebration is: Durable WebEducation & eLearning for Students with Physical Challenges & Medical Needs. “Durable eLearning” is an eLearning experience on the basis of web-based programs, providing eLearning experiences from which students may also draw on later in their lives. Activities on the website: candle-art, courage-art, freedom by inventions. Aim of the project is to develop a MixTalent-path of thinking+feeling+doing = being active. Keeping the wondering and learning, the development of our personalities going. That can be difficult when you are in hospital, recovering at home, or in the transitions of taking part of a fully functioning daily life again. The core of our eLearning program is: with minimum physical energy and maximum social activity achieve intellectual and emotional mobility. To visit the website, go to: http://www.macadam.nl/mxJubel_eBk/mxJubel1W_eBk.htm. With the students Greet will be celebrating the anniversary by presenting the eBook “A landscape of Tolerance and Diversity.” Greet says: “For me tolerance has been always very important. Living from childhood with physical limits; giving and getting room to others and myself made it possible to develop and grow. Wondering “why, how – to try” , is for me, the root of Tolerance and Diversity. That’s why I have chosen this theme to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Everybody is working on the same topics, according to age/possibilities/interest”. In november 2008 we will present our Landscape as a free eBook to the world again - as we did in 2007 with the MixTalent-Troubadours eBook. Mayor Amy Koopmanschap of the Dutch city of Diemen will help me to organize a special event around this presentation. And all participants will receive a Celebration-certificate on the International day of Children’s Rights on 19 November 2008. Local Dutch tv will be covering the conference.
